Care Information

Caring for your Products

Here at Anya Hindmarch we use the best quality materials we can find for all of our products and are passionate about showcasing the natural beauty of leather. We see any weathering as part of the charm and story rather than damage and think that a few marks here and there make our products look loved. However, if you want to keep your purchase looking its best, we do have a few tips.

General

Leather

Our leather skins have been tanned specifically for your product and all have different characteristics. Over time you may see creasing or colour changes, all of which are natural features of leather. If leather is consistently exposed to harsh light, the product may experience some fading so we recommend that you store your product in its box or protective dust bag.

Return to Nature Leather

This specially tanned leather will age in its own unique way, and may react and darken over time. To keep it protected from rain spots and water marks, and to feed and enhance the leather, it needs a little more love than other bags: please use our Chambers Wax to protect the bag.

Seagrass & Straw

To maintain and conserve your item in its best condition we recommend not to over-fill your bag so it can conserve its original shape. Straw is a delicate, naturally harvested material, long period of humidity and heat may affect the item. We recommend avoiding contact with water, oils, perfumes, or cosmetics.

Colour Transfer

Your product is made from a unique, natural material. Avoid contact with Light coloured fabrics or upholstery as the colour may transfer from your bag. We recommend avoiding extreme heat and direct sunlight and protecting it from rain. Should your product come into contact with water, allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. We recommend avoiding close contact with bright coloured clothes where colour could transfer back to areas of your bag.

Diffuser

Place the pencil pot on a flat, stable surface that won't be susceptible to stains (in case of drips or spills). The chosen spot should be away from pets and children. The pencils are fragile, handle them with care. If you pull them out of the liquid, be careful of spills or drips.

Candles

Remove all packaging before burning candle. Never leave a burning candle on a flammable surface. We advise to keep the wicks trimmed so that the flames remain under control. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not pour liquid wax in drains as it will create blockages as it solidifies.

Ceramics

It is safe to wash you bone china in an automatic dishwasher as long as you can stick to the following recommendations. Load your dishwasher with bone china products so that pieces DO NOT touch each other, to ensure the risk of scratching. Do not overload and do not exceed a temperature of 60ºC/ 140ºF when washing bone china in the dishwasher. We recommend you to use gentle, short wash or china and crystal cycle. Use a gentle detergent, eco – detergents are a better choice that stronger dish-washing powder and tablets. Once the dishwasher ended its cycle, remove bone china immediately, this will help to prevent to form a film around your chinaware.

Decoration

Leather Printing

We’ve worked closely with our craftsmen to make sure that the leather print on your product is as durable as possible. Because the leather has a textured surface you may notice small raised dots in the printing. As with all leathers, the skin will age naturally so the print may fade slightly or you may notice the base colour show through if the leather becomes damaged. To keep your product looking its best, we recommend storing in the protective dust bag or box and avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight, water and chemical cleaners.

Embellishments

The embellishment on our products can be very delicate, so please handle with care. We would recommend that care be taken when wearing this product as it could cause snagging or marking when worn with delicate fabrics. Please avoid contact with liquids as they could remove the finish of the product.

Rope Handles and Key charms

Our rope handles and key charms are made from specialist sailing rope and are designed to be as hardwearing as possible. Over time you may notice they start to get marked from use so we recommend wiping clean with a damp cloth and leaving to dry naturally.

To keep your bag looking its best , always store in a box or dust bag. Should your bag get wet allow to dry naturally at room temperature. The surface can be polished with a soft, dry cloth but treatment beyond this should be entrusted to a professional.

Our nylon is the strongest we could find and will be showerproof. However, we recommend keeping nylon products away from excessive heat and water. Over time, creases may appear, which is a natural characteristic of the fabric.

Patent Leather

Over time you might notice natural colour changes or creases in patent leather. Try to avoid too much contact with other patent materials or light coloured clothing or upholstery, as some colour transfer may occur. Please do not store patent leather in plastic.

Glitter Finishes

Our glitter fabric is man-made and the glitter may shed a little with wear. Please be aware that the glitter can be sharp and so be careful when wearing your bag with delicate fabrics.

Velvet

We use the highest quality and most durable velvet, but do still recommend that you handle this product with care to avoid excess abrasion or snagging which may damage the material. Loose dirt may be removed with a soft dry cloth and liquids should be avoided as they will damage the material. Due to the nature of the material, storage may cause light marring or flattening of the fibres which is natural. To keep your product looking its best, we recommend storing it in its protective dust bag or box when not in use.

Shearling

Velvet Cases

Velvet is prone to thinning in areas that are subject to wear and tear. You may notice that the corners of your phone case start thinning with wear. Velvet may also attract fluff and other fibres from your bag or pocket so we recommend handling with care.
